Biography
Suhan Khan is recognised as one of the top corporate, transactional and shipping lawyers of Bangladesh. Recognised by the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as a notable practitioner, he has been awarded the International Advisory Experts Awards Winner 2020 for shipping practice, the Leaders in Law Corporate Law Lawyer of the Year in Bangladesh 2020 and Global 100 Corporate and M&A Lawyer of the Year 2020 for Bangladesh. Suhan was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister and is currently practising as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Suhan acts as the legal counsel for the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh, multiple U.S. based corporations, several MNCs & INGOs, leading oil and gas corporations in Singapore, UAE and Bangladesh, energy and infrastructure project contractors based in the EU, major insurance underwriters in Malaysia and Hong Kong as well as the largest group of companies of Bangladesh. He is also the counsel of choice of top tier international law firms based in the UK, Singapore, UAE, China, Hong Kong and India and is frequently instructed for matters involving the jurisdiction of Bangladesh.
Suhan is one of the very few lawyers in Bangladesh who acted as lead counsel in international arbitrations arising from commercial and construction disputes. He acted as legal counsel for international contractors, commodities suppliers and global oil enterprises in international arbitrations and foreign arbitral award enforcement proceedings in a multitude of commercial arbitrations before the ICC, GAFTA, FOSFA, ICA, SIAC etc. Suhan also regularly represents his clients before the arbitration bench, admiralty & company bench of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, High Court Division. He has successfully represented owners of vessels, cargo owners, insurers and P&I Clubs in litigations before the admiralty court of Bangladesh.
