Global law firm Shearman & Sterling today announces the appointment of Gary Hamp as a Leveraged Finance partner in London.
Gary brings extensive English law leveraged finance experience, having acted for leading investment banks, commercial banks, other direct lenders, investment funds and private equity firms on the financing aspects of private equity transactions. His practice also has synergies with that of recent London Insolvency and Restructuring partner hire Alex Wood.
“Gary’s skills and impressive experience further strengthens the English law component of our transatlantic leveraged finance offering” said David Beveridge, Senior Partner at Shearman & Sterling. “His addition demonstrates the continued execution of our long-term strategy, which includes growing revenues in finance and remaining a global elite firm.”
Ward McKimm, Global Head of Leverage Finance and European Regional Managing Partner, added, “We are excited to welcome Gary to the firm. His energy, enthusiasm and experience complements our existing offering, bolstering our English law leveraged finance capability. His appointment is indicative of our commitment to continue expanding our global leveraged finance practice.”
Gary Hamp added, “I am very excited to be joining such a distinguished transatlantic leverage finance team. I look forward to working with Ward, Alan, Michael and the broader team to help our clients capitalise on current market opportunities, continuing the further expansion of the firm’s global leveraged finance offering.”
Gary’s hire follows the firm’s appointment of U.S. partners Alan Rockwell and Michael Chernick in October last year and Ward McKimm re-joining the firm in London. It is in addition to the recent hire of London partners Alex Wood, in insolvency and restructuring, who joins the firm on the 14th September and Garreth Wong, in international arbitration.
