Debevoise Names Seven New Partners

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP announces that Jason Auerbach, Megan Bannigan, Sally Bergmann, Elliot Greenfield, Winston Paes, Daniel Priest and Alisa Waxman will become partners of the firm, effective July 1. Taking into account this year’s class of partner promotions, women represent more than 41% of all internal promotions to partnership at the firm since 2008.

Partner Biographies

Jason Auerbach is based in the New York office and a member of the firm’s Investment Management Group. He advises sponsors of private investment funds, co-investment vehicles and separately managed accounts, covering numerous sectors and strategies, including buyout, fund of funds, secondaries and growth capital funds. He received his J.D. cum laude from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2008 and his B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004.

Megan Bannigan is based in the New York office and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. She advises clients on trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, false advertising, design patents, rights of publicity, licensing and other contractual disputes, representing clients across a range of industries. From 2008 to 2009, Ms. Bannigan clerked for the Hon. Mary Little Cooper of the United States District Court for District of New Jersey. She received her J.D. with high honors from Rutgers University in 2007 and her B.A. with honors from Rutgers College in 2002.

Sally Bergmann is based in the New York office and a member of the firm’s Investment Management Group. She advises sponsors of private equity funds, including buyout, distressed, real estate and credit opportunities funds. Ms. Bergmann received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2011 and her B.S.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2008.

Elliot Greenfield is based in the New York office and a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice. He advises clients on complex civil litigation matters, including the defense of companies and officers and directors in securities and consumer class actions, shareholder derivative lawsuits, and merger and acquisition litigation, as well as other litigation matters. From 2006 to 2007, he clerked for the Hon. Victor Marrero in the Southern District of New York. Mr. Greenfield received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2005, his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001 and his B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1994.

Winston Paes is based in the New York office and a member of the White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group. He advises clients on white collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement, internal investigations and complex civil litigation. Prior to joining Debevoise, Mr. Paes served for nine years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, the final two years of which he spent as Chief of the Business and Securities Fraud Section. Mr. Paes received his J.D. magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in 2003 and his B.A. magna cum laude from the State University of New York, Stony Brook in 1998.

Daniel Priest is based in the New York office and a member of the Tax Department. He advises clients on a broad range of M&A and financing transactions, notably on corporate transactions in the insurance industry, and advises sponsors in the formation of U.S. and international private equity funds. Mr. Priest received his J.D. magna cum laude from New York University School of Law in 2010 and his B.A. magna cum laude from Carleton College in 2007.

Alisa Waxman is based in the New York office and a member of the firm’s Investment Management Group. She advises sponsors of private equity funds, including buyout, energy, infrastructure and distressed funds. Ms. Waxman received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School cum laude in 2011 and her B.A. summa cum laude from Temple University in 2006, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
