International law firm CMS is pleased to announce the appointment of Paolo Andreottola to the firm’s IP practice in London. Paolo’s appointment builds on the team’s recent expansion and follows the arrival of IP disputes specialist Ben Hitchens in September.
Paolo has broad expertise across various aspects of IP law and specialises in brand protection and trademark enforcement, including brand clearance, trademark filing, trademark disputes and settlement agreements. He has particular experience in opposition proceedings before the European Union and UK trademark registries as well as in the prosecution of trademark portfolios worldwide. Paolo joins the firm from Locke Lord, where he was a Senior Counsel.
“Paolo is a fantastic hire for the practice and represents an important part of our growth strategy,” says Sarah Wright, Head of IP at CMS UK. “His exceptional brand protection and trademark enforcement practice, covering the UK, Europe and worldwide, will boost the team’s ability to attract and handle work in these areas.”
Paolo is an eminent practitioner and has been recognised by World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000 for prosecution and strategy. WTR notes that Paolo is a “brand protection and enforcement maven with a knack for opposition proceedings before the UK and EU trademark registries.”
Commended for its “heavyweight, cross-discipline advice and support” the band 1 CMS IP team continues to go from strength to strength. The UK team now includes more than 15 partners who are supported by over 130 lawyers, patent attorneys, trade mark attorneys, and specialist IP administrators and paralegals.
